We used to share the ocean
sucking the same juice
the vigor of the sea

It filled our heart and lungs
with the essence of being
of the “knowing

One umbilical cord
shared in the blue
that nourished
and brushed
our souls

With the very first breath
the nectar in the chest
our shared mother
and the smell of
the marine

We’ve just
Forgotten

who we are

During the pregnancy, the fetus’s lung and heart are filled with amniotic fluid. As the baby takes the first breath and a few more, he will begin to breathe through his lung.
